Frequently Asked Questions

Is my data stored anywhere?
No. Everything runs entirely in your browser. Your GPX file is parsed locally and never uploaded to any server. Weather data is fetched directly from the Open-Meteo API.
Where does the weather data come from?
Wind and weather forecasts are provided by the Open-Meteo API, a free and open-source weather service. Data is available for the current day plus 7 days ahead.
How accurate is the wind analysis?
The analysis uses hourly wind forecasts sampled at the route's geographic center. Actual conditions may vary due to terrain, elevation, and local effects. Treat results as a useful estimate, not a guarantee.
How does average speed affect the results?
Your speed determines how long you spend on each segment and which hourly forecast applies. A slower speed means the ride spans more hours, so wind shifts during the ride are taken into account.
How do I switch between metric and imperial?
Open the main menu (the menu icon in the header) and use the Imperial units switch. Off means metric (km, km/h, °C), on means imperial (mi, mph, °F).
What GPX features are supported?
Track points, route points, waypoints, and elevation data. The file must contain at least 2 points. Most GPX files exported from Strava, Komoot, Garmin, or similar apps work out of the box.
Can I use this for running or walking?
Absolutely. Set the average speed to your pace (e.g. 10 km/h for running, 5 km/h for walking) and the analysis adjusts accordingly.
